I read a lot, and cry a lot while reading if the book deserves my tears. That’s just me. My emotions are very close to the surface and I make no apologies for that. Every so often I read a book that stays with me, haunts me if you will, and follows me around long after I finish it. This is where you’ll find my thoughts on those books. They’re special.

Beyond

by Catrina Haverlock & Angela Larkin

Beyond grabbed me right from the cover, a misty couple obviously in love, with the words “Her life had just begun, but his had already ended.” Oh, yeah.

The descriptions of Landon’s death and its aftermath were beautiful in their horrifying realism and in the emotions evoked in those he left behind. Presley’s adjustment to a hostile new school is compounded by her growing feelings for a boy who calls to her in the deepest recesses of her heart–a boy who has been dead for months. I had to keep reading to see how this impossible relationship could ever work, and the authors did not disappoint.
